Looks like the automatic hyphenation for Swedish won't work for me, at least not in LINUX. I've also tried the Windows version earlier, but it was the same. For the rest of the languages it seem to work OK, for example English and Norwegian, but in some cases, it gave the letter "ΓΏ" instead of "-" for the hyphen.
The Define, Hyphenation... -dialog box makes the program crash when exiting.

In Dutch this works (Windows)!

Do you have Svenska.Hyphenation in the folder PageStream\SoftLogik\Engines?
(And Svenska.Spelling in the same folder?).

Do you have Svenska.UserHyphenation and Svenska.UserSpelling in the PageStream\SoftLogik\Engines folder? They are now in the private folder (since PageStream 5.0.4.17). For Windows this is: C:\Documents and Settings\private username\Application Data\PageStream5. Where private username could be: Daniel Forsman.

Thank you for your help. But both of the files svenska.HPatterns and svenska.lan is in the right folder. (I don't think there is a svenska.Hyphenation file available.) And I've tried some of the other languages, and they work, although not perfectly.

And in Linux, I've just unpacked all directories in my home-folder. I don't know if there is a way of installing it the official way (with a package manager) in Mandriva. Anyway, it was the same problem in Windows.

No Svenska.hyphenation, only a Svenska.spelling athttp://www.pagestream.org/downloads.php.

First, the .hyphenation files are for exceptions that are not properly handled by the .hpatterns file. We never built one for svenska because we don't have a proper list of words and no one as ever submitted a list of poorly hyphenated words.

I have been able to reproduce the crash (not related to the other mentioned problem), but I have no way of knowing if the hyphenation is working or not. Can you supply a list of words and how they should be hyphenated so I can test?

I can't say that it hyphenates correctly, but the hyphenation patterns files was corrupt. This one should work with the current sveska language module and also stop the crash.

Please test and close this bug if it works as expected.

I've tried it but still get no hyphenation. Of course I removed the old file and made a copy of the new in the Engines-folder. Am I supposed to do more to make it work? Of course I could use Norwegian insted (It works fjust fine and it is closely related to Swedish) but it would be the best for me if Swedish would work.

Can you tell me:

1) does it still crash when you exit Define->Hyphenation?

2) Can you give me several examples of proper hyphenation for Swedish? I looked up the word programmer in Swedish, and it appears to be programmerare. When entered into Define->Hyphenation->Word and clicking the Break button it returned: pro~gram~me~rare which may not be correct break location but it appears to be doing something. Do you get the same results with the new Svenska.hpatterns file?

Daniel Forsman wrote...2009-01-31 05:39:31

1) It didn't crash just upon exiting, but when I tried to add a word to the exceptions.

2) I cannot find any word through Define, Hyphenation. Not a single word is ever hyphenated when using Swedish, as opposite to Norwegian, Danish etc. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but...

Your new issue, crashing when adding exceptions, doesn't happen here with the latest development version. Words are hyphenating here and without example Swedish words to test I can do nothing more. Please check again in next release or provide examples of Swedish words and their proper hyphenation.
