I've noticed this before, but don't think I've ever mentioned it. I have smart quotes turned on so I get typographic quotes which normally is a good thing. However, I use ctrl-d "" to get double straight quotes, as for marking inches. On load these get converted to left double quotes when following a character, such as 1/2.

I believe this is an issue with the text import filter. Where I just noticed it was in an article I'd imported. I'm pretty sure this happens with the export/import settings used in the SendToEditor script.

Okay, further confirms a misbehavior, specifically, some characters (such as fractions) are not identified by the PgS text import filter as being non-white space so a conversion to typographic quotes selects the left quote instead of the right quote.

Regardless of the export options (whether or not to convert the quotes) if the import option is to convert the quotes the straight quotes following a fraction are incorrectly converted to a right quote instead of a left quote.

In essence, the fractions are understood by the filter as being white space.

In my original case I wasn't paying attention and needed to import with quote conversion off, but it made me find the bug...

No reference in change log, but this appears to work correctly now. Verified that code check for quotes after numbers.
