When starting the application for the first time on my new Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) computer, I receive the following error message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to close the application."

I have tried running under XP in Windows Compatibility Mode with "Run as Administrator" checked and that didn't help. I am able to run in Windows 7 Virtual XP under the Windows Virtual Computer.

When I posted the problem on the List, several user's told me they were running on Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) without any problem. Because of a hard disk problem, I had to reformat my hard disk and reinstall everything. That didn't help, I still received the error message.

I receive the message immediately after executing the program. I'm suspecting that it has something to do with creating the PageStream5.ini file. In XP the .ini file was placed in [user]\Application Data\PageStream5. In Windows 7, I am told it is placed in [user]\AppData\Roaming\PageStream5. On my computer, this folder's properties indicate that this folder and all files in it are "Read Only". I don't know if this is a problem, but it doesn't interfere with any other applications.

I am surviving using Virtual XP, but it means I have to juggle a lot of documents. Any help would be appreciated.

I am using Win 7 64 bit Home Premium and Pagestream 5.04.4 locks up and crashes and the 5.05.7 is very slow and impossible to edit with.

Well, 2 different bugs posted here. David, ask on the main Support list and see if anyone can give you a hand. Your issue with 5.0.5.7 may very well be related to the Layers pallet. Jim can't run PageStream at all, and that is the posted bug here.

Jim, as you seem to think as well, I can only believe the issue is some permission problem. There will be a log of what happened. Type event viewer in search. Go to the windows logs>applicatons tab. Look for errors (they have red in the left column) that have app hang, app crash, etc. To limit the amount of things to look through go there right after an app failed to launch. Report the information as it relates to PageStream and we can take a stab at this together.
